Dear editor,
I am a 3rd year student at the University of Nottingham currently undergoing my dissertation which will make up a substantial percentage of my final result. I am a Geography student but also a passionate football fan (a Hornet!)so decided to combine the two and present a thesis on the changing form and locations of British football grounds and how this reflects broader socio-cultural changes in the modern urban environment. Part of this included having to gather data, as it is supposed to be a research project. I have been trying to collect data through a short questionnaire to fans up and down ,the country through websites such as BBC 606 and Vital Football, but have been met by frustrating red tape and regulations.
Therefore I am asking you guys if there is anyway you can help me with this as I would ideally like to get answers to this survey from football fans all over the UK. It would be brilliant if you could do something like forward my questionnaire onto the members of your site with my email address to send the answers to. I’m afraid I cannot offer much incentive to anyone who helps me out here, except I can guarantee a note in the work thanking respondents, as well as offering a copy of the finished work before it is handed in. Any ideas on how I could get some answers from Fulham fans would be great.
Thanks in advance
Matthew Green

Subject: Information for our School project
Dear Sir/Madam,
Hello, we are Sam Hermens & Bart Meijer from the Netherlands. Recently we’re working on a school project. We’re doing research on several questions about different English fan bases in the Premier and Coca-Cola League. This whole project is a part of our final exam. In order to finish this project we like to know everything about fans and fan organisations in England. We’d be very pleased if you send us an email in which you describe everything you can think of your fans. For instance: how your fan-organisation works; does Fulham have many fanatic fans/hooligans within your fan base, and do they have a particularly part of the stadium where they support Fulham? Do the supporters have much involvement in the decisions of your organisation, and how many supporters does Fulham have, so how big is your fan bases, randomly estimated? Also we’d like to know how you and the management of Fulham motivate your fans to visit matches?
We know England handles a very strict soccer law. Did this rule have a very large influence on the behaviour of your supporters when it was introduced, and what can you tell us about this law?
Thanks in advance!
Yours sincerely,
Sam Hermens & Bart Meijer
